Colophon

Hand-written HTML and one stylesheet, served from a small virtual machine. There is no build step, no framework, and no JavaScript on any page.

Typography

Body text uses whatever old-style serif your system already has — Iowan Old Style, Palatino, or Georgia — because downloading a webfont to render four hundred words is a poor trade. Monospace runs are set in the system UI monospace face.

Colour

Two palettes, chosen by prefers-color-scheme. Warm paper and ink by day, warm charcoal at night. The single accent is a burnt orange used for links and nothing else.

Hosting

A single small VPS, certificates from Let's Encrypt, renewed automatically. Static files only. No analytics package, no tag manager, no third-party requests of any kind — if you open the network tab you should see this page, the stylesheet, and the favicon.

Prose here is free to quote with attribution. Code snippets are public domain; they are too short to own and usually too specific to reuse.
